Reading enlightens, educates and entertains and this week the magic of books is being celebrated with National Book Week, encouraging primary school children in the UK to read for fun!
We all have memories of books that changed our lives. Mine was books by Astird Lindgren, a Swedish children’s author who created hundreds of children’s characters and stories. Her most famous character has to be Pippi Longstocking, and there is something very special reading those same books to my own children and finding they love the same stories as much as I did back in the 1970s.
That is the power of a good story. Embrace National Book Day and encourage your children to read!

MINI RODINI LAUNCHES DESIGN COLLABORATION

Love them or hate them, the school holidays are now well and truly over! We’ve literally just got back from Sweden after a long working “holiday” so we thought we’d share a few fun little things we saw along the way:

Doing a good window display is one of the trickier parts of retail. You obviously want to let people know what goodies you have inside, but you also have to do it in a way that is fun, interesting and will make people stop and look.
We thought this Barbie Window display was absolutely genius. We particularly like the cat fight below. Sums up sale time!!
Speaking of Windows – we’ve been working on our own Window display this week as well. All our lovely Autumn Winter / Back to School stock is starting to arrive so we’ve been busy restocking the shelves and changing things around….

It’s not as good as the Barbie display, but it did at least get a couple of people to stop….

So a few weeks ago we heard Vinny Lee (Interiors Editor of The Times Magazine) was coming to our house to do a profile on us and KIDSEN. We were nervous beyond belief but also really excited about getting such an incredible opportunity. It’s funny, I used to interview people for a living, and I thought that was daunting, but when the tables are turned it’s somehow much, much worse!
Anyway, we spent the next couple of weeks in a cleaning frenzy watching nearly every episode of “How Clean is Your Home” and “Changing Rooms” for inspiration.
The big day came around quick and Vinny arrived with Jake Fitzjones and all his incredibly professional looking camera kit. Gulp!
But actually, they were two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. And we’re not just saying that so they’ll feature us again! Honestly, they put the whole family at ease and as you’ll see below, we ended up with some really lovely pictures and some great memories.
